What IS REP?
The Coburg Basketball Association gathers together the best talent amongst the domestic competition to represent the club in the VJBL competition on Friday nights. Players get access to expert coaching and skill development if they are selected into a representative team.
The VJBL is a pathway program into various state programs run by Basketball Victoria. Coburg Giants is committed to providing a high performance environment for our athletes
WHAT's INVOLVED?
ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS
MID-WEEK TRAINING
All teams trainings will be run by a qualified coach with a coaching accreditation. These trainings will be driven by Coburg Basketball's style of play, skill development principles and culture. These sessions will have a larger focus on team skills, game plan and offensive/defensive strategies
LITTLE GIANTS PROGRAM
Program for bottom age athletes to learn the fundamental skills and game style of Coburg Basketball prior to competing in the VJBL. This is for U10's players only.
SUNDAY SKILLS TRAINING
Skills sessions run by our 1's coaches or coaching coordinators focusing entirely on skill development. These include focus on
- Shooting
- Passing
- Dribbling
- Finishing Moves
- Strength, Agility and Conditioning
- Defence
- Footwork
FRIDAY GAMES
Every Friday night during the school term players will compete in the VJBL competition against other associations. This is the highest level of basketball competition in Victoria.
SHOOTING ACADEMY
A one hour clinic every Sunday morning designed to improve jump shot form and range
TOURNAMENTS
Teams compete in various tournaments throughout the season both locally (Eltham/Dandenong, Southern Pen, Nunawadding), Ballarat, Geelong and interstate such as the Easter Classic in Adelaide or the USA tour (u16/u18s)

I have been a player both at junior and senior level, a coach and now a coordinator. Coburg Basketball has a strong history of developing high level athletes for Basketball Victoria and Basketball Australia.
2023 was our strongest season to date in terms of rankings, and we'd like to continue that upward trend in 2024.
The program has come leaps and bounds in a short period of time, but we continue to strive for excellence across our program!
